I’m Ready for a Multi-Pronged Effort

Starting in Internet Marketing is difficult because there are so many things to learn and every site you go to tries to sell you something (including, occasionally, this one :-).

I plan to make a multi-pronged effort with my Internet marketing efforts. First, I have a multi-level marketing business that sells fresh, all natural, pet food formulated by the world-famous pet nutritionist, Dr. Jane Bicks. Dr. Jane received three Presidential citations, has written many books on pet nutrition, appeared on Animal Planet TV and many other shows, and built the largest pet rescue shelter in the US in NYC at Mayor Rudie Giuliani’s request. The pet food is called Life’s Abundance and is delivered fresh to your door (pet food from stores sits up to 18 months in uncontrolled climates and is loaded with dangerous chemical preservatives). My company is Wholesome Pet Supply and the products I sell are manufactured for Healthy Pet Net, a division of Trilogy International. Please take a minute to check out my web site at:

I just finished taking a Dreamweaver web site development course. Dreamweaver is the most popular package used by professional web site developers and, being an old computer hack, I wanted to use the best software available. I will use Dreamweaver to build my own web sites. This allows me to control content, which is critical when using products like Google’s AdWords to promote your business. I’ve had great success with Google AdWords, but they can be expensive. I want to cut my costs and improve my order rate. That’s why I want to develop my own web sites.

So Much To Do, So Little Time

As a newcomer to network marketing, I have purchased several thousand pages of information, in addition to audio and video files, on how best to write copy, setup web sites, drive traffic to my web sites, the best way to use Google AdSense and AdWords, etc., etc.

Besides all my other projects, I have to read and absorb this material in order to determine which is most applicable to my unique situation. The best reference and training material I want to share with you to help you become better network marketers too. To do this I have to become an affiliate in order to be able to resell the material and plan to present it here for your benefit (and, yes, to try and earn a commission for myself, which is what all of this work is about; helping people while earning a fair return for my efforts).

So, right now I am in the middle of reviewing all of this material and trying to apply it to my business plan. That is why I have not been as active on this blog lately as I’d planned to be. However, I am going to start allowing you to “look over my shoulder” as I review various training products. I will describe them here and give you my opinion as to their value.

Careful, or Things Can Spin Out of Control

As I’ve said several times in previous posts, I am fairly new at network marketing. There are so many products and resources available to anyone entering this exciting business that it is overwhelming. You have to be careful to not buy too many of these products or you’ll end up wasting your money and not gaining any benefit from them, although many are excellent products.

I have already experienced this. I’ve purchased a lot of products lately and I see them piling up on my PC desktop, unread, as I get excited about the next idea. So, today I made a pact with myself to not make one more purchase until I’ve read, understood and made a determination about each and every product I already own as to how useful it is. I may have most of the information I need right now to move to the next level and not even know it.

So, somethings you have to slow down to move ahead. We’ll see. I’ll report back soon.

When Do I Get the Time to Do This?

If you are an enterprising entrepreneur, you probably have a lot of balls in the air. I know I do. I have way too many projects going on. I am retired, but yet manage to work from 6:00AM until midnight or later every day (type A anyone?).

As I said, I have a lot of projects going on. I retired at age 57 and don’t receive any pensions or Social Security (yet), so I have to manage the stock portfolio we’ve accumulated (no, I’m not a gazillionaire, but I do try to keep food on the table by trading stocks with a proprietary method a friend of mine and I developed - and I give him the credit for the bulk of the work since he is smarter than I am) and that takes 4-6 hours a day.

As I’ve said in earlier posts, I am relatively new to network marketing and I have a huge learning curve, so I buy a lot of material, some good and some bad (and if I really like it, I mention it here and, yes, I try to become an affiliate and make a commission), and spend hours each day reading and learning.

We have some land holdings in New Mexico that I am trying to sell (at a fantastic price, by the way, so if you have any interest and would like to see a description and pictures, please email me at erv@indigovista.com), so that takes a few hours every couple of days.

Hosting Your Web Site

In order to do network marketing of any kind, you need to own and control web sites. In fact, you will need a network of web sites that grow and link to each other in order to cross sell your products.

To have a web site you need a domain name (in fact, you will need multiple domain names) and a place where your web site will “live,” a web hosting service. Of course, you will need other things, and these will be covered in future posts, but this entry will deal only with domain names and web hosting.

First, the domain name. In order for visitors to access your web site, you must obtain a domain name. Web sites are accessed by an Internet Protocol (IP) address, which is a number that uniquely identifies each computer or device connected to the Internet. A domain name the text version of an IP address. It usually has the format www(dot)mydomainname(dot)com (or one of a number of other prefixes like .net, .biz, etc.).

There are hundreds of sites where you can register a domain name, but the one I like the best is the same company that I like best for hosting a web site. It is 1&1 Internet Inc., the largest web hosting company in the world. Since you are going to need a web hosting company anyway, if you sign-up for hosting service with 1&1, you get some number of free domain names, depending on the program you choose. You can click on button at the end of this post to go to 1&1 to register a domain for only $5.99 a year for .com names or to sign up for web hosting.

"Get Paid To" (GPT) Websites

One of the easiest and quickest ways to earn money on the Internet is to sign up for some of the “get paid to” (GPT) websites. These a proven method of making money online, especially for anyone unfamiliar with the process of building websites or selling online. These websites are essentially middlemen between advertisers and you, the end-user or consumer. Advertisers pay these companies to generate leads and attract potential customers onto their services. These sites will pass a portion of what they earn to you when you patronize or visit the advertisers.

Some of the types of things you do on these sites to earn money are:

  • Complete surveys
  • Read email advertisements
  • Subscribing to email newsletters
  • Refer friends to purchase a product
  • Open free website user accounts
  • Purchase refundable trial products/subscriptions (be sure to cancel before the trial ends)

Why This Blog?

My wife, Sue, and I retired three years ago. I am the type of person who has to stay busy all the time. In addition, Sue and I love to travel, especially overseas. This costs money. We live in the mountains of north central Arizona in the city of Cottonwood. Opportunities to make money here, especially part-time and on my schedule, are limited so this year I decided to look for ways to earn money from home using the Internet.

In this blog I’m going to tell you everything I did, exactly as I did it. I will point you to the same resources I found in my research and include links so you can get these tools too. Many of these resources are free, but some you have to pay for (as I did). Please understand that, wherever possible, I have become an affiliate to market these same products that I bought and I will make a commission if you buy them. They will not cost you any more than I paid (someone made a commission from me). This is the kind of marketing I am involved in and it is what I am trying to teach you. Let’s learn together and let’s be successful together. That’s my goal. I hope to make some money along the way, but I know the frustrations I went through without someone to help me, so I’m also doing this for you (thus, my web site http://www.4usuccessprograms.com/). So let’s start this journey right now.

Oh, and please note, nothing I am going to discuss on this blog will allow you to “get rich quick,” but you can make significant income and can get rich over time, if you are willing to work hard and are dedicated to your own success. However, I must make this disclaimer. This site is for educational purposes only. No guarantees or warranties of any kind are given or implied. The decisions you make are 100% your own and I am not responsible in any way for the results. I will make every effort to provide information that is honest, reputable, ethical, legal and moral, but on the Internet things change fast and what was great today can be suspect tomorrow, so use your own judgement and proceed at your own risk.
