Happy New Year (plus a review of recent activity)

Happy New Year! May 2008 fulfill every dream you have!

What a month it’s been! I moved my pet health education and news blog (http://4usuccessprograms.blogspot.com/) from Google’s free Blogger hosting and software to my own hosting service using WordPress blogging software. I also registered a new, more meaningful, domain name to access the blog (http://www.wholesomepetsupplynews.com/ ).

The reasons for the move were (1) I wanted full control over my blog as it is a source of income for me, (2) I’ve heard of Google shutting down blogs for unknown reasons and I didn’t want to take a chance on this happening, and (3) WordPress is suppose to be a more commercially friendly blogging software (and it’s free).

Installing WordPress was a breeze (well, compared to what followed), but getting the templates setup the way I wanted was a nightmare. It’s still not 100%, but at least it’s up and running. I purchased the template and it had bugs. I switched to another template and it took me over a week to learn how to configure it and get all the plugins updated. I still want the original template and am working with the provider to get it fixed.

There are all kinds of templates and plugin functions that are available for free and for a fee that allow tailoring a WordPress blog to look exactly how you want. You can change templates with one click of the mouse and totally change the look and feel of your blog to optimize the presentation of your particular niche. There are other ways to do customization, but I haven’t learned enough yet to have my blog look exactly the way I want, but I will.

Once the pet health news blog is finished, I plan to start a new one about one of my passions, stock trading. It’ll be education and informative, but will not be an advisory service. it will follow my thinking about trades I make and will follow my progress. I am mostly a technical trader so there will be plenty of charts and commentary.

I also plan to move this blog to my hosting service using WordPress.

My focus for the last two-plus weeks was totally on getting my pet health news blog up and running, so I basically ignored this blog. However, in 2008 I plan to post here at least three times a week, so please check back or setup a RSS feed to you can stay current on my progress.
