I Implemented Step One

About a week ago I wrote a post about my multi-pronged strategy to make money on the Internet. My initial focus was going to be on my holistic pet food business. I make virtually 100% of my pet food sales via Internet advertising. I am renting my product web site, along with many other people who rent the same basic site with only our affiliate number being different.

Because I rent it, I have no control over the landing page content (the landing page is where you go to when you click an Internet address link). I use Google AdWords to advertise my site. With Google AdWords, when someone does a search on some keyword(s), relevant ads related to that search are listed along with the search results. However, because many people rent the same pet food product site, as many as half the ads listed on a pet food search result page may point to the same basic web site.

Because of Google’s “secret formula” for computing search word costs and the “goodness” of an ad landing page, AdWords can be very expensive the the results disappointing if you cannot control the content of the ad’s landing page.

I’m Ready for a Multi-Pronged Effort

Starting in Internet Marketing is difficult because there are so many things to learn and every site you go to tries to sell you something (including, occasionally, this one :-).

I plan to make a multi-pronged effort with my Internet marketing efforts. First, I have a multi-level marketing business that sells fresh, all natural, pet food formulated by the world-famous pet nutritionist, Dr. Jane Bicks. Dr. Jane received three Presidential citations, has written many books on pet nutrition, appeared on Animal Planet TV and many other shows, and built the largest pet rescue shelter in the US in NYC at Mayor Rudie Giuliani’s request. The pet food is called Life’s Abundance and is delivered fresh to your door (pet food from stores sits up to 18 months in uncontrolled climates and is loaded with dangerous chemical preservatives). My company is Wholesome Pet Supply and the products I sell are manufactured for Healthy Pet Net, a division of Trilogy International. Please take a minute to check out my web site at:

I just finished taking a Dreamweaver web site development course. Dreamweaver is the most popular package used by professional web site developers and, being an old computer hack, I wanted to use the best software available. I will use Dreamweaver to build my own web sites. This allows me to control content, which is critical when using products like Google’s AdWords to promote your business. I’ve had great success with Google AdWords, but they can be expensive. I want to cut my costs and improve my order rate. That’s why I want to develop my own web sites.

So Much To Do, So Little Time

As a newcomer to network marketing, I have purchased several thousand pages of information, in addition to audio and video files, on how best to write copy, setup web sites, drive traffic to my web sites, the best way to use Google AdSense and AdWords, etc., etc.

Besides all my other projects, I have to read and absorb this material in order to determine which is most applicable to my unique situation. The best reference and training material I want to share with you to help you become better network marketers too. To do this I have to become an affiliate in order to be able to resell the material and plan to present it here for your benefit (and, yes, to try and earn a commission for myself, which is what all of this work is about; helping people while earning a fair return for my efforts).

So, right now I am in the middle of reviewing all of this material and trying to apply it to my business plan. That is why I have not been as active on this blog lately as I’d planned to be. However, I am going to start allowing you to “look over my shoulder” as I review various training products. I will describe them here and give you my opinion as to their value.

Careful, or Things Can Spin Out of Control

As I’ve said several times in previous posts, I am fairly new at network marketing. There are so many products and resources available to anyone entering this exciting business that it is overwhelming. You have to be careful to not buy too many of these products or you’ll end up wasting your money and not gaining any benefit from them, although many are excellent products.

I have already experienced this. I’ve purchased a lot of products lately and I see them piling up on my PC desktop, unread, as I get excited about the next idea. So, today I made a pact with myself to not make one more purchase until I’ve read, understood and made a determination about each and every product I already own as to how useful it is. I may have most of the information I need right now to move to the next level and not even know it.

So, somethings you have to slow down to move ahead. We’ll see. I’ll report back soon.
