When Do I Get the Time to Do This?
If you are an enterprising entrepreneur, you probably have a lot of balls in the air. I know I do. I have way too many projects going on. I am retired, but yet manage to work from 6:00AM until midnight or later every day (type A anyone?).
As I said, I have a lot of projects going on. I retired at age 57 and don’t receive any pensions or Social Security (yet), so I have to manage the stock portfolio we’ve accumulated (no, I’m not a gazillionaire, but I do try to keep food on the table by trading stocks with a proprietary method a friend of mine and I developed - and I give him the credit for the bulk of the work since he is smarter than I am) and that takes 4-6 hours a day.
As I’ve said in earlier posts, I am relatively new to network marketing and I have a huge learning curve, so I buy a lot of material, some good and some bad (and if I really like it, I mention it here and, yes, I try to become an affiliate and make a commission), and spend hours each day reading and learning.
We have some land holdings in New Mexico that I am trying to sell (at a fantastic price, by the way, so if you have any interest and would like to see a description and pictures, please email me at erv@indigovista.com), so that takes a few hours every couple of days.
Then I have web sites to develop (a must if you are a network marketer and want to receive additional income beyond your blog). Dreamweaver is the de facto standard for many web site developers, including those in network marketing. It’s a wonderful package that supports many platforms and has many features, which means it takes a while to learn. Once I learn it, then I finally can start developing those web sites. More hours gone every day.
Then here’s a healthy lifestyle; eating right, exercising (I run 3-4 times a week and lift weights twice a week and try to walk any days I don’t run) and, maybe more important, not doing those things that are harmful to your body like smoking, excessive drinking, eating pre-processed foods and/or high fat foods, eating too many false carbs, etc. (I try to follow The South Beach Diet as a life style).
But my number one priority is family and friends. I try to spend at least a few hours each day involved in activities with the people I love the most.
And, of course, you have to eat and that adds at least an hour a day to my many activities. When you add it all up, I am busy at least 18 hours a day. So when do I do my posts? Well, that’s the challenge. I am trying very hard to be as helpful as I can to as many people as possible who are in the same boat as I am, newbies in network marketing.
The answer is you have to have priorities. List everything important in your life and prioritize it. Then, follow the priority list. Mine are family and friends, health, then business and investments (and where does God fit into my list of priorities, you might ask? This blog does not concern itself with religion or politics, but my answer would be that, if you believe in a God, then God should be part of every priority, not just a separate item you “work on” when you have the time or when God falls into the next item on your priority list).
So, now you know why I haven’t posted for a while. I have other priorities. You should too. But most important of all, whatever you do you should be happy (I am), and should be bringing happiness to others (I try).
I will try my best to make you happy in your network marketing endeavors, but please make this at least a tertiary priority. Make those who you love and who love your number one priority and your health number two, then everything else. I am convinced that my priority list is one of the keys to my happiness, along with trying to give of myself to others first, thinking of “me” last.
